A kind of saffron-tasting jello with some walnuts and shredded coconuts. The original one is VERY sweet but I made it in a way that can be eaten more! hahaha ^@^/
Background: From an Iranian site. Made in most parts of Iran especially in big cities like Teheran,Tabriz, Isfahan and Hamedan.
- Corn Starch (1/2 cup)
- Rose water or syrup (1/2 cup)
- sugar (3/4 cup)
- butter (1 Tbsp)
- shredded coconuts (1/2 cup)
- walnuts (1/2 cup)
- water (2 cups)
pour 2 Tbsp of boiled water in a cup , add the saffron.
In a bowl,pour corn starch.and 2 cups of water
add the rose water or syrup
add sugar and stir well
add saffron and mix well
Pour the mix in a deep pan and heat it on low heat. keep stirring
add butter when the mix getting a bit sticky
keep stirring till the mix gets sticky but NOT too hard!
Turn the heat off and let the mix cools down a bit
rub some oil or butter inside your favorite dish and pour in the mix.
sprinkle some coconuts on it
put some walnuts and let it cool down.
keep it in the refrigerator.
