Yummy avocado and crab California Rolls! This recipe makes 3 large rolls.
- Sushi rice (Half of sushi rice recipe (see step 1))
- Avocado (1 1/2 )
- Imitation crab (1 pack)
- Toasted nori seaweed sheets (3 whole sheets)
- White sesame seeds (as needed)
- Mayonnaise (as needed)
Make sushi rice (http://cookpad.it/recipes/sushi-rice). This recipe calls for half of the sushi rice recipe, which will make 3 rolls.
Wrap a bamboo sushi mat in plastic wrap.
Place a sheet of nori seaweed on the mat.
Spread a thin layer of rice evenly over the seaweed. Leave a little space towards the top edge free of rice. Make sure you don't make the rice layer too thick, or your rolls will end up hard to
Sprinkle rice with sesame seeds. Wet your hands and press sesame seeds into the rice so that they won't fall off. Then, turn the seaweed sheet over so that the rice faces the bottom. Turn it quickly so it doesn't fall apart!
Lay avocado slices and crab across the the sheet (slightly off center towards bottom of the sheet, as seen in the picture).
Using the sushi mat, roll up the sushi slowly and tightly beginning from the bottom.
Cut each roll and arrange on a plate. Add a bit of mayo to decorate the top if you like.
You can also sprinkle parley, ikura (salmon roe), etc. for some extra colorful garnish!
