A tasty and easy recipe, original from China but really popular in Japan. You can use either pork or beef. The oyster sauce is the key ingredient to create a special taste. Ready to eat in 10 minutes or less!
- pork or cow meat (250 grams)
- sake or white wine (2 tsp)
- soy sauce (2 tsp)
- sesame oil (2 tsp)
- bamboo shoots (200 grams)
- green pepper (2~3)
- red pepper (1)
- garlic (1 clove)
- cornstarch (1 tbsp)
- oyster sauce (2 tbsp)
- vegetable oil
Prepare the ingredients. We couldn't get the bamboo shoots so we used potatoes instead :)
Cut the meat in thin strips.
In a bowl, mix well the soy sauce, the sake (or wine), the sesame oil. Add a pinch of salt too.
Add the meat strips to the bowl and mix well with the sauce from the previous step. Let it rest for some minutes so the meat gets the flavour from the sauce. Add the cornstarch.
Chop the peppers, again in thin strips.
Since we didn't have bamboo shoots, we cut some potatoes and boiled them in water with a pinch of salt until soft.
In a pan, put some vegetable oil and fry the garlic clove (chopped) with the meat.
When the meat looses the pink tone remove it from fire, do not overcook!
Now put again a little bit of vegetable oil in the pan and add the pepper. Stir fry.
When the peppers get soft, lower the fire and add the meat and the potatoes.
Add the oyster sauce, a pinch of salt and half a teaspoon of sugar. Mix everything.
Serve with some rice. Bon appétit!
