Double Chocolate Rice Krispie Treats
Simple and Sweet! This American treat is super easy to make and kids absolutely love it (especially the decorating part)! I couldn't find the regular rice puff cereals in stores here in Japan, so I just went with the chocolate rice puff cereals. The chocolatier, the better, right?
- chocolate rice puff cereal (3 cups (750cc))
- butter (20 grams)
- marshmallows (140 grams)
- white chocolate (80 grams)
- oil (1/2 tbsp)
- sprinkles (as much as you want!)
Gather your butter, marshmallows, and cereal!
Melt your butter on low heat in a pan.
Once your butter has completely melted, add your marshmallows. Make sure you keep the heat low, because the marshmallows melt pretty quickly!
Once your marshmallows have melted (no lumps!), turn the heat off.
Pour in your cereal and stir well so that the cereal gets evenly coated with the melted marshmallows.
Do this step quickly before the marshmallow cools and gets hard!
Quickly transfer the cereal mix into a pan and press it out evenly. I used wax paper to line my pan and to press the cereal out (say no to sticky fingers!)
Once it cools, cut them up into blocks, and you're done! Easy right? Feel free to skip the next few steps if you think these treats are chocolatey enough :)
For those of you chocolate lovers, here's the fun part! Combine white chocolate and oil in a bowl and microwave it for a minute or so. Stir every 30 seconds to check the consistency.
You should get something like this.
Get your sprinkles out and have fun decorating!
