Gheime (Ground meat, split peas with some fries on the top!)
This dish is usually eaten in special ceremonies and formal parties in Iran. the taste is very mild and a perfect match with white rice.:-) And E-A-S-Y to cook!!
- ground meat (４００g)
- split peas (50 g)
- onion (chopped) (2 medium)
- potato (3~4 )
- lemon (1)
- tomato (3)
- tomato paste (2 tablespoons)
- salt,pepper,turmeric (1 teaspoon each)
- saffron mixed in boild water (2 teaspoons )
wash the split peas and pu them in the water 30 minutes in advance
chop the onions and fry them in a deep pot till golden
add split peas and cook a bit
Frying the split peas helps not soften when you cook them later!
add the ground meat and fry till the color changes
add tomato paste,salt,pepper and turmeric. mix and cook a bit
pour 3 cups of water
peel the tomatoes,chop and add
add lemon juice
peel the potatoes and cut into long and thin cuts
fry or deep fry them
add half of the fries
keep half for the topping!
