Green Beans Stew
This is a healthy and delicious dish using green beans and beef that is perfect for cooler days! You can have it with rice or bread, and OF COURSE, a big fresh salad!!
- green beans (150 g)
- beef (150 g)
- onion (2 small)
- potato (3 medium)
- tomato sauce (1 Tbsp)
- butter (50 g)
- cinnamon (2 tsp)
- salt and black pepper (1 tsp each)
- Turmeric or Iranian mix spice (1 Tbsp)
- water (6~7 cups)
Chop the onions.
Cut the green beans into small pieces.
Peel the potatoes, cut into small pieces, and put them in a bowl of water.
Cut the beef into small pieces.
Fry the onion in a deep fry pan or a pan for about 10 minutes on low heat.
Add the meat and fry for few more minutes.
Add the turmeric and black pepper, but DO NOT add salt! The meat would take longer time if you add the salt!
Pour about 3 cups of water.
Cover the pot with a lid and cook for about an hour.
When the water is almost vaporized...
...add the butter
Add the green beans and fry for few minutes.
Pour in the tomato sauce and fry few more minutes.
Add the salt and cinnamon.
Pour in 4 cups of water
Put the lid on and cook for about 15 minutes.
Add the potatoes.
Cook for 15 more minutes until the water vaporizes and the potatoes are cooked.
